Hello World,

I’m a little late with this sentiment, but I think it has been a great couple of weeks for the planet; I’m feeling so hopeful for our national leadership for the first time in a long time. Certainly there are many problems to fix, but Barack Obama will be standing on some strong shoulders and will have the energy and enthusiasm of the voters he inspired. I feel like there has been a shift in consciousness about what is possible. it is great to know that we have a new president-elect who understands and appreciates the lives of people outside of this country and is respected by those people as well. We all need to keep the faith that we can move forward to make the world a better place for people to live in.

The Studio Tour ended on Sunday. Thank you to all who came to see my work. I enjoyed so much meeting everyone that came through my front door to see my photographs (and to their surprise, paintings!). People came for a number of different reasons and it was interesting to hear what brought them here. I definitely will participate in the Tour next year; I think I learned some things that will help me improve my offerings next year. If you signed my guest book (and most of you did), I will add you to my newsletter list and keep you posted on new shows and new work. I have a couple of possible shows in discussion, so I’ll let you know when something becomes definite.

Take care, Cindy

2008 Open Studio Tour

Hello World,

This is my first posting to my blog. I plan to use this blog as a way to keep website visitors informed of shows I am doing or other things I think might be of interest. I probably will show you new photographs from time to time as well.

My current news — besides the launching this website that Heather Gordon designed for me and which you have already found — is that I am participating for the first time in the Orange County (NC) Artists Guild 2008 Open Studio Tour. The tour actually began this past weekend and will continue for a second weekend November 8-9. It was a lot of fun to meet everyone that came by last weekend and I am looking forward to meeting more people this coming weekend (Saturday 10-5; Sunday 12-5). The main body of the work I am showing is comprised of black and white photographs from Africa. I also have photographs from a show from several years ago called “Places of worship” with photos from places such as Cairo, Bangkok, Kiev and Kathmandu. I have cards with many of the Africa images and handmade books with a collection of photographs from Africa.

In addition, I have a few paintings…the first time I have actually shown these.

There are a lot of great artists on the tour. You can find out more about the tour by going to You can see a sample of the work of all the artistis at the exhibits at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro and the Burwell School in Hillsborough now through November 11. Thank you to all of you who came out this past weekend!
